School preps future global movers and shakers

-

MANILA, Philippines - With society and technology changing at an ever-increasing pace, there’s a need to develop a global mind-set and observe cross-cultural skills. Education is the first stepping stone to attain this. For parents, it means providing their children a climate where intellectual curiosity and cultural sensitivity are stimulated, social interactions are fostered, and every aspect of a child’s progress and growth is promoted. For students, it is an environment where their creativity is encouraged; they feel secure, happy, and safe — healthy and growing in mind, body, and spirit.

Small enough to feel friendly and warm but big enough to assure parents of a stimulating learning environment while providing students everything they need to thrive later on in this global economy, Fountain International School is a well-resourced center of learning combining the best in educational methodologies with philosophies touching on personal development.

A private, non-sectarian, coeducational  institution catering to K-12 education (pre-school, elementary, and high school), Fountain International School (FIS) houses two campuses in Manila — the Annapolis campus accommodates the preschool and elementary courses while the Santolan grounds house the high school students.

Guided by the ethos “where love and concern spell success,” the educational platform of FIS was built in 2002.  With an atmosphere bent on upholding peace, understanding, and academic excellence through diversity, FIS has since demonstrated its commitment to advancing global competence. FIS students, represented by 28 different countries, have consistently performed well, growing tremendously in both academic and non-academic areas.

Celebrating cultural differences: Fountain International School’s various programs and activities expose students to global diversity, enabling them to set aside their differences and work together.

The past school years have witnessed FIS students achieving educational distinction in national and international Science and Math Olympics, gold medals at the 3rd International Young Inventors Physics Project Olympiad, and grand prizes at the MTAP-DepED Metrobank Challenge regional levels, among others.

To facilitate FIS’ core academic competencies, European and Singaporean published textbooks are used in class works. With a small class size (a maximum of 16 students in high school and 24 students in grade school), the teacher-student interaction becomes more challenging but at the same time, enables every student to fulfill his academic potential. FIS faculty comprises highly qualified and licensed teachers from the Philippines, England, Turkey, and China.

Developing global individuals is essential to FIS, which is why ICAD holds several international programs. The international scholarship/student exchange program enables students from Turkey to pursue their college education in the Philippines. Likewise, deserving Filipino students are sent to Turkey to continue their high school or college studies. The program not only enables global competencies but also strengthens cultural ties between the two countries.
