Ripped jeans are a no-no for women over 40
HI, LUCY!
I am a former model, 45 years old, still slim and I still wear mini skirts. Once, a designer saw me in a mini and said women over 40 should stop wearing mini skirts. I joked him and said that 40 is the new 30.
Also, can women over 40 wear those tattered jeans with holes? I just love wearing them. No one has chided me so far.
EX-MODEL
Fashion is a very personal thing and I think for as long as your legs are still firm and you are still slim, you can wear a mini skirt. I mean, age should not be the only thing to consider because the reality is, there are fit 45-year-old (maybe even 50-year-old) women who can give 20- or 30-year-olds a run for their money in as far as looking good in a mini skirt is concerned. Be aware though that usually, the knees are a dead giveaway for age. But for as long as you are confident that you can still pull it off, why not? Besides, when will you wear a mini? When you’re 70 or 85 years old?
Now, when it comes to wearing ripped or tatttered jeans, I personally think that is best left to the younger ones. At 45, unless you are a rock star performing on stage in a concert, you would be better off wearing denims in a sleek wash. In short, the mini skirt is negotiable, but the ripped denims are a definite no as it seems forced.

A scent for the holidays
DEAR RISSA,
Summer is my favorite time of the year. What’s a nice fragrance to wear during the holidays that doesn’t smell too summer-y?
ELENA
I love summer, too! Although the holidays call for richer fragrances, I prefer the light scents of summer fragrances, too. The heavy floral scents or syrupy aromas of some holiday perfumes can be headache-inducing. I really like Fijian Water Lotus Eau de Toilette from The Body Shop right now. The fresh aquatic-floral scent is so refreshing! Unlike other scents that can get too summery because of their citrus or fruity scents, the oceanic scent of The Body Shop’s Fijian Water Lotus EDT is cool and invigorating. The holidays also tend to get stressful and tiring and this scent is the perfect escape.
