Cory Aquino painting at Salcedo Auctions
MANILA, Philippines - Fine and decorative arts, jewelry, timepieces, and vintage wines comprise the “Connoisseur Collection” that will go under the hammer on Nov. 24, 2 p.m., at Salcedo Auctions, Three Salcedo Place, 121 Tordesillas Street, Salcedo Village, Makati.
A major find is a charming Japanese fan with a painting by former President Cory Aquino signed and dated 1998 — a significant collectible since her works were only available for charity, if at all. The rest were given away as personal gifts.
Other rare and precious pieces have also been gathered from the private estates and personal collections of the most discriminating. Among them are a distinctive crystal-white sculpture by Ramon Orlina, a delightful oil on canvas by well-known Bacolod artist Charlie Co, and a classic mixed media on board by distinguished artist Anita Magsaysay-Ho. Early works by established artists include a traditional scene in oil by Manuel Baldemor, and a pair of signed prints by National Artist Arturo Luz.
Viewing of the Connoisseur collection is held daily until Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (4 p.m. on Saturday) at Salcedo Auctions. An online catalogue is available at salcedoauctions.com. For inquiries, call 659-4094 or e-mail info@salcedoauctions.com.
