It was reported that the global telehealth and telemedicine market will grow at a rate of nearly 27 percent annually. Worth $87.8 billion in 2022, it’s projected to reach $285.7 billion by 2027.

Just like online financial solutions, telemedicine surged in popularity due to the circumstances of the pandemic. Access to expert advice with the safety of the patient and health professionals was made possible by technology.

That expanded the client base from those within a physician’s community to practically anyone from around the world. Particularly for Pinoys working overseas, it must be a relief to be able to consult someone who speaks your language especially if it is not easy to get medical attention as well as have the peace of mind that you can provide the same to your family back home.

Enter TINBO (Tindahan ni Bossing), a one-stop gateway that provides Filipinos access to digital services while overseas. TINBO partnered with mWell (a healthcare mega app) to deliver affordable telemedicine plans bundled with free accident coverage tailored for families of OFWs.

Recently TINBO, powered by PLDT Global Corporation, has been awarded the “Most Innovative Health App for OFWs” by Gawad Galing Global Award of Excellence in Nursing. This is an accolade, a testament to its dedication to promoting health and wellness among OFWs and their families, received less than a year from its launch.

“This recognition is proof of TINBO’s commitment to empower Filipinos around the world to be the ‘Bossing of Alaga’ when it comes to providing for their family’s healthcare needs,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, president and CEO at PLDT Global.

“The TINBO platform and PLDT Global have enabled us to bring healthcare closer to our fellow Filipinos abroad. As the only healthcare app available globally, mWell allows our kababayans to conveniently consult online with Pinoy doctors who speak their language and can provide the medical advice that they need right away.”

Whichever part of the world they are in, they can consult with doctors online 24/7 via the mWell app. Through the mWell platform, they may choose from hundreds of highly-trained doctors — internal medicine specialists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, and more.

They may also send health passes to their families in the Philippines, which they can use to consult with a doctor right away or book an appointment at their convenience.

TINBO actively reaches out to overseas Filipinos not only online but through actual information booths in various conferences and festivals. Photos taken from their Facebook page show activities in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Qatar

There’s more. Using the mWell app, Filipinos abroad may monitor their wellness level with the mWellness Score. Developed in partnership with an award-winning team of doctors and data scientists from Aktivo, users can track physical activity, step count and sleep — for free. Customized fitness programs developed by Olympians and exercise physiologists can also be accessed. Calorie-managed recipes created by nutritionists and dietitians are also available.

“Filipino migrant workers can also share the gift of health with their families back home through affordable health passes which they may send as a gift. With the mWell app’s wellness features, our migrant workers can take control of their health, empowering them to become healthier and more productive,” said mWell CEO and president and MPIC chief finance, risk and sustainability officer Chaye Cabal-Revilla.

TINBO has also officially launched Gamot Padala on the platform, together with Beam&Go as its fulfillment partner, allowing OFWs to order select prescription drugs and vitamins and have them delivered straight to their family’s home or to their preferred pick-up locations across the Philippines.

Aside from medicines and vitamins, TINBO has also enabled Filipinos overseas to send school supplies via the Eskwela Padala option or treat their loved ones to meals via Food Padala from select partners and locations nationwide.

TINBO is another innovation that contributes to the overall PLDT Group commitment to create digital solutions and collaborate with partners, to enhance customer experience wherever they are in the world. With TINBO, Filipinos overseas can buy load, data packages, and even gaming PINs for their families in the Philippines.

They can also subscribe to a Smart Virtual Number via TINBO and conveniently pay abroad their Philippine utilities and government billers, access digital banking needs via Maya, and enjoy other digital services while outside the Philippines.

Customers can register for a TINBO number — a Smart Virtual Number (SVN) that serves as their Philippine mobile number whenever they are outside the country — via tinbo.ph. The TINBO Number, powered by PLDT’s wireless unit, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), allows them to receive calls and texts without a physical SIM, including one-time passwords (OTPs), for secure payment transactions. TINBO users can also easily access services for their connectivity and financial needs through TINBO.
