Sara honors all former VPs
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte honored the former vice presidents of the country yesterday for supposedly “strengthening” the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and bringing it closer to the Filipino people.
“I express my deep gratitude to all those who have become part of the OVP, especially the former Vice Presidents of the Philippines. They were the ones who started, built and strengthened the OVP,” Duterte said in a speech in Filipino during the OVP’s 88th founding anniversary celebration held at the OVP central office in Mandaluyong City.
“Because of their (former VPs) hard work, intelligence and strong leadership, the OVP has become an important part of our country’s history and the lives of the Filipino people,” she added.
During the celebration, the OVP also released its Lupang Hinirang or national anthem institutional video featuring all the past vice presidents – from Sergio Osmeña Sr., Elpidio Quirino, Fernando Lopez, Carlos Garcia, Diosdado Macapagal, Emmanuel Pelaez and Fernando Lopez to those after EDSA starting with Salvador Laurel up to Leni Robredo.
