For Joseph Marco, working with Rhen Escaño in the Viva One series “My Husband Is a Mafia Boss” is “such a treat.”

“I really enjoyed working with Rhen,” the actor declared during the show’s presscon. “I guess this is the most genuine team that I’ve worked with. And I’m so blessed to have her as my leading lady. I don’t think I would be able to do things that I do here kung hindi siya yung ka-partner ko that’s why I’m so thankful.”

He also described their working dynamic as “very healthy,” adding that he felt safe collaborating with her. “She’s very supportive in every scene, especially during the challenging one. I’m confident, you know, especially with her by my side.”

While filming, Joseph discovered that Rhen tends to overthink, so he would often remind her how great and beautiful she is. “She lacks self-confidence,” revealed Joseph. “I hope that one day, she will overcome it and she will appreciate herself more.”

Rhen, on the other hand, fully appreciated their instant connection when they first met and as they continued filming.

Opposite Joseph is Rhen Escaño’s Aemie Romero, a college student adored by everyone on campus.

“He didn’t make me feel that I’m a nobody,” declared Rhen. “I worried about it at first… But when we started taping, he didn’t make me feel that way. Lagi pa niya akong ni-re-remind that I should not think that way. Our connection and friendship really helped me. I became comfortable enough on set to portray my character well… I don’t need to overthink, ‘Relax ka lang. You can do this,’ ganyan.”

“I can truly say there’s a special friendship between us and masaya na may ganun on set. You have an ally,” she continued.

During the presscon, fans cheered in kilig when Joseph referred to Rhen as “wife material” after being asked if he considers her girlfriend material.

“Of course, who could say no to Joseph Marco?” Rhen also reacted when asked if she sees Joseph as boyfriend material. “To be honest, kapag sobrang in character kami, lagi ko talaga siyang pinipigilan like, ‘Wait lang, wait lang, ‘wag kang masyadong intense. Kasi totoo po talaga yung kilig. Hindi mahirap kiligin kay Joseph Marco. Yung makikita niyong eksena, effortless because he is Joseph Marco. Period.” The playful atmosphere had Joseph gently pinching her on the side.

Directed by Fifth Solomon (“My Sassy Girl” and “Sa Muli”), “My Husband Is a Mafia Boss” premieres on April 11 with a new episode every Saturday thereafter. The series is based on the Wattpad phenomenon with the same title, written by Diana Marie Serrato Maranan, known as @yanalovesyouu to her followers.
