Belle Mariano echoes Donny Pangilinan in call to 'let go of hate'

MANILA, Philippines — Actress-singer Belle Mariano has chimed in her thoughts denouncing negativity in her fanbase.
Last week, fellow artist Shuvee Etrata apologized to fans of DonBelle, the love team of Belle with Donny Pangilinan, after a video of Shuvee fangirling over Donny went viral.
"Gusto ko pong mag-sorry if I reacted that way. I'm so sorry if I'm always fangirling over Donny. I will do my best para mapigilan po 'yung nararamdaman natin next time,” Shuvee said, reiterating that Donny was only a crush of hers and in no way had a chance of being with him.
The situation prompted Donny to issue a message on X while abroad, defending both Belle and Shuvee, appealing to the public to stop spreading hate and instead focus on more important issues concerning the country.
“I feel like we've gotten too comfortable throwing hate online without thinking about how that affects actual human beings who have done nothing wrong," Donny said. "This is for all fandoms. Artists have lives too. It's gone below the belt. Why did we reach this point?"

Donny reiterated that personalities like him, Belle and Shuvee are all showbiz friends and there was no need to pit people against each other, stressing his stance against cloutchasing and bashing.
Belle echoed Donny's words with a brief statement posted on her Instagram story last March 30.
"Hi all! I call on everyone to let go of the negativity and hate that's been going around. There are bigger, more important things that need our attention," Belle said. "Let's choose kindness, patience and understanding. 'Wag na po tayong mag-away away."
The DonBelle tandem is reuniting for the movie "Tayo Sa Wakas" this May, marking their first big screen project since 2022's "An Inconvenient Love." — with reports from Kathleen Llemit
