Matteo denies ‘rumors’ about girlfriend Sarah

MANILA, Philippines — As you must know by now, Sarah Geronimo broke down in Las Vegas during the second in a series of her US This 15 Me concert tour that was kicked off in L.A. In the middle of her signature song Forever Is Not Enough, she was reported to have failed to hit a high note and stopped singing. The concert producer denied reports that Sarah “walked out.” She did not.

As soon as she recovered, Sarah in near tears apologized to the audience, confessing that she was feeling tired (pagod na pagod na), that she’s bugged down by the pressure to always do good and to be a role model (“na maging perpekto”), that she was feeling empty and that she was telling herself (quoted verbatim in the vernacular)“hindi ‘yung successful na shows or mga hit ang makakapagpa-kumpleto sa‘yo bilang tao kundi ‘yung tunay na pagmamahal na hindi nagbabago perpekto ka man o hindi….” adding that she was grateful to her fans for continuing to support her.    

It’s understandable why Sarah felt so “burned out” because for 15 years now, she has been working non-stop, being the sole breadwinner (workhorse?) of the family, hardly able to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Poor girl! Perhaps her only relief is when she spends private time with her very patient boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli who has proven to be the most daring among Sarah’s suitors (among them John Lloyd Cruz, Rayver Cruz and Gerald Anderson) against all odds (harangan man ng sibat) including the over-protectiveness of Sarah’s parents.

Sarah is 29, older than Matteo by one year, and she has been missing a lot. During her pre-US show at the Big Dome, she teased the audience by winking as she reached the lines of the song Leaving on a Jet Plane — I’m leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again…when I come back I’ll wear your wedding ring… — making people suspect that she and Matteo are “secretly” planning to get married…or, to elope? Why not?

Taking pity on Sarah, people agree that it’s about time she enjoyed life (free from the clutches of her parents), savor her precious (but few) moments with Matteo like any normal girl (of age), and be left alone to decide for her life. She’s old enough after all, isn’t she?

By the way, it was Matteo who was among the first to console Sarah after her Las Vegas “meltdown.” Sayang that Matteo wasn’t in Las Vegas to personally support Sarah and give her a big hug to reassure her that, don’t worry Sarah, he’s always around to love her and comfort her and protect her.

“She’s resting now,” Matteo texted Funfare back when asked how Sarah was doing. “But two more shows and she will be back. She will be okay.”

Inevitably, some people are suspecting that Sarah is, well, you know?

“No,” Matteo replied vehemently, “of course, not!”

Whatever it is should happen after they get married…but how soon?
