MANILA, Philippines - The NCAA on Tour goes to Emilio Aguinaldo College gym today with the Generals hoping to lean on its home-court edge in a bid to stop the Lyceum Pirates’ unbeaten run in the 93rd NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
The Generals are coming to the 4 p.m. match brimming with confidence following an 85-79 victory over last year’s runners-up Arellano U Chiefs, but Sydney Onwubere and the rest will have their hands full against the rampaging Pirates, who have swept their first six games, including victories over the league’s fancied team – San Beda.
“We want to be the first team to beat LPU,” said EAC coach Ariel Sison.
But EAC could miss last year’s NCAA First Mythical Team member Hamadou Laminou, who sustained a knee injury late in the first quarter against the Chiefs.
Without Laminou, Onwubere will have to match or better his 17-point, 14-rebound effort against Arellano as the Generals try to improve to 4-2 and finally stop the Pirates.
