Good chemistry in Barefoot
MANILA, Philippines - Romantic-comedy movie Barefoot brings together Hollywood’s hottest and most promising stars today Evan Rachel Wood and Scott Speedman (photo), for a romantic date night treat that will tug at every moviegoer’s romantic side.
The brand-new film from director Andrew Fleming tells the story of Jay Wheeler, a hedonistic handsome young man from a wealthy family who takes Daisy, a psychiatric patient raised in isolation all her life, to his brother’s wedding to prove that he has finally straightened out his life. She impresses the family with her genuine, if unstable charm and along the way, they fall into an improbable love.
Wood, who stars as the adorably crazy Daisy in the newest release, is no stranger to the big screen. In the past, she has starred alongside Hollywood A-listers such as Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler and George Clooney and Ryan Gosling in The Ides of March. Wood also played the lead role in the Beatles musical Across the Universe opposite Jim Sturgess. Wood’s charm is undeniable on- and off-screen, effortlessly switching from sexy to sweet to fit every role she plays.
Speedman brings depth to the character of Jay as he stars alongside Wood. He played Michael Corvin alongside Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld movie series. He demonstrates more of his acting chops in the horror thriller The Strangers, also starring Liv Tyler and Gemma Ward. Boasting of a wide range of film and TV roles in his career, Speedman shines in Barefoot, convincingly portraying Jay’s underlying motivations and emotions.
(Barefoot is showing nationwide, released by OctoArts Films.)
