Is Lorna turning Kapamilya? Is Vilma running for Veep? Cher nominated for Emmy

FUNFARE UPDATE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Because she’s often seen on ABS-CBN plugging the forthcoming airing of her late husband Rudy Fernandez’s starrers, Lorna Tolentino, currently “certified Kapuso” (of GMA) is rumored to be, ehem, jumping ober da bakod, being lured by ABS-CBN with a soap, a talk show and a movie (by Star Cinema).

Is she or isn’t she — turning Kapamilya, that is?

Said Lorna, “Hindi pa. I’m just promoting Daboy’s movies sa ABS-CBN. Hindi pa kami nagkakausap ni Ms. Malou (Santos, a Kapamilya exec).”

So, there’s a...”possibility”?

A news item yesterday mentioned in passing that former Sen. Ralph Recto said no to be the new SSS head (Romulo Neri is “it”) because his wife, Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, is running for vice president in 2010 under the administration ticket, with Vice President Noli de Castro as running mate.

True or false?

Said Vilma, “Nope! I’m not, in all honesty. My focus is Batangas.”

Could it be true that Sen. Bong Revilla is bent on running for that position?

Bong is mum, smiling enigmatically.

Congratulations to Cher Calvin, anchor of KTLA CW, who is again nominated for an Emmy this September. Cher has won one already, sharing it with her co-anchors, and they were cited for “nice opening, with the anchors sharing their own stories. Highlights included a good explainer on problems that Asians face in the world of film and television...”

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” said Cher in a text message from L.A.
