Key tensions include disputes between the United States and NATO over Greenland and a 100% tariff threat on Canadian goods linked to a China trade deal, reinforcing risk-off positioning in precious metals.

We view the milestone prices as reflective of elevated risk aversion and tactical safe-haven demand rather than definitive structural regime shifts. Nonetheless, sustained levels materially above consensus long-term price assumptions would improve producer earnings optics and long-dated economics, enhancing optionality for upstream gold and silver producers.
Catalyst
Key catalysts include whether precious metal prices hold at high levels over multiple quarters on continued macro/policy uncertainty, persistent central bank buying, and anticipated monetary easing. A sustained gold environment substantially above US$4,300/oz and silver prices above US$65/oz would prompt upward revisions to long-term price decks and support valuation re-rating for leveraged upstream miners with high operating leverage.
Action
We remain constructive on upstream precious-metals equities and prefer APX given its predominantly gold exposure (~96% gold / 4% silver), which offers the highest leverage to sustained gold strength. Partially gold-levered names should also benefit, including OGP (~68% gold) and PX (~45%), though with lower sensitivity.
