Goodyear Dealer Norman Agojo Solidifies Stake at Drift Title

-

Goodyear Philippines, Inc. proves that motor sports intensely runs in their veins as one of the top dealers and sponsored champion drifter solidly carved out his name and reputation at a podium finish in the Glade Sport Lateral Drift Championship Pro-Am Series 2010. Apart from being an accomplished businessman, Norman Agojo, a Goodyear Autocare owner in Batangas, is strongly passionate about drifting, winning three spots in a row for the amateur division of the competition namely third place in Round 1, first place in Round 2 and second runner up in Round 3.

Agojo began drifting only three months prior to his first ever drifting competition and won third place in that said event. Armed with dexterity, talent and power Agojo pushed his Nissan Skyline R33’s boundaries to its limits in drifting as he brought home the top honor on his second competition amongst veteran and famous drifters.

“With Goodyear’s racing heritage, motor sports are in our blood and Goodyear is strongly committed to drifting which is the fastest growing motor sport in the country and in the ASEAN region. We are extremely proud of Norman ‘s triumph in the 2010 Glade Sport Lateral Drift Competition. The combination of our Goodyear tires plus the raw yet effective skill of Norman’s piloting proved to be a champion in the track,” said Gerry Alava, Goodyear Philippines Managing Director.

Firing up Agojo’s identifiable modified Nissan Skyline R33 is the Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric, the multi-awarded ultra-high performance tire known for its “no-limits” driving experience. The Eagle F1 Asymmetric was designed with a keen understanding of what the ultra-high performance segment needs for faster, more powerful and heavier vehicles requirements. The tires’ cornering ability plays a vital role in drifting because of its Active Corner Grip technology which was developed with the objective of increasing the tire-to-road contact area by distributing a more even pressure across the width of the tires’ tread patch thus resulting in better control especially in tight corners.

Agojo says, “In drifting, it’s all about the driver’s skill in controlling his vehicle. It is running in high speed, making sure that you slide closest to the clipping point – having nose to tail accurate slides. You definitely need the right tires with responsive grip and handling to be able to take wide drift angles. The Eagle F1 Asymmetric provides perfect handling and control on the track and allows drift drivers to push the limits with confidence.”

Agojo will continue to bring the drifting to new heights by throwing his car sideways in the next leg of the Glade Sport Lateral Drift Championship Pro-Am Series 2010 that will be held on July 31 to August 1 at the Clark International Speedway.
