MANILA, Philippines — Federal Land Inc. is bringing Japan’s oldest department store chain to the Philippines to give Filipinos a new shopping experience.

In a statement, Federal Land said it would put up the first Mitsukoshi Mall in the Philippines to rise in Bonifacio Global City.

The company partnered with Japanese real estate developer Nomura Real Estate Development and retail specialist Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. for the development of The Seasons Residences.

“Today’s property buyers demand homes that truly reflect their lifestyles, and we are collaborating with two of the most trusted names in Japan, to develop The Seasons Residences which will house the first Mitsukoshi Mall in the country,” said Federal Land chairman Alfred Ty.

Federal Land said the flagship Mitsukoshi store in Manila would provide customers with unparalleled experience in merchandise selection and Japanese-style customer service, known as omotenashi.

The new mall will also incorporate the preferences of Filipinos.

“Strategically located in the northern part of Bonifacio Global City, the three-story Mitsukoshi Mall will feature a wide selection of lifestyle brands, including Japanese labels that have not been made available in the Philippines, and an expertly edited selection of Filipino and international brands,” Federal Land said.

Apart from its fashion and beauty offerings, Federal Land said the new mall will also feature a wide selection of food choices as it will house a depachika or a Japanese-style food hall on the lower ground floor.

The supermarket and premium food court on the same floor will also gather a mix of international and authentic Japanese goods and cuisines. It will also include stalls that sell premium sweets, pastries and fresh food items.

Ty said The Seasons Residences would offer much more than a stylish home.

“It is a one-of-a-kind development that redefines urban living by combining four key aspects—functionality, safety, harmony with the environment, and Japanese technology,” he said.

The Seasons Residences will comprise of four residential towers reaching up to 41 to 50 levels. These towers will sit on a podium made up of upscale public spaces for retail, dining and entertainment concepts. One-bedroom, two-bedroom units and suites, and three-bedroom units are available to urban professionals, starting families and expatriates.

“The Seasons Residences represents the best of Japanese culture and lifestyle, and we are thrilled that Mitsukoshi will anchor the property with its flagship location in Manila,” Ty said.

“We believe that this project will offer a new and exciting benchmark for retail experience in the city,” he added.

Mitsukoshi Mall is slated to open its doors in 2021, while units for the first tower of The Seasons Residences will be turned over starting in 2023.
