Smart adds new channel for customer education plan

-

MANILA, Philippines - Leading cellular company Smart Communications has added another channel to make available its Mobile Internet Customer Education Program references to a wider audience.

“As the country’s leading wireless services provider, we believe that it is our duty to educate and engage our customers to fully enjoy the benefits of the worldwide web, in a device as simple and as ubiquitous as the mobile phone. Our Mobile Internet Customer Education Program reinforces our long-standing vision of providing Internet for all,” Smart chief wireless services advisor Orlando Vea said.

Now accessible via the Smart corporate website, individuals simply need to log on to http://smart.com.ph/corporate/support/mobiledata.htm in order to get information on various Smart mobile data plans, specific handset and network configurations, and other tips to maximize use and enjoyment of the Internet using a Smart mobile phone.

The materials available at the Smart corporate website complement the telco’s ongoing training program being rolled out in almost all Smart Experience Centers and PLDT centers nationwide. The program has been designed to educate students, partner communities like schools, barangay residents, government agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs) and private corporations. The sessions are slated to run until November 2010.

“By educating our subscribers on the use and benefits of a web-enabled phone, we hope to drive Internet usage in the Philippines, in the same way that we have been instrumental in placing mobile phones on the hand of every Filipino,” Vea added.

Through the Smart website, subscribers are made aware of the many options available to a consumer with an Internet-capable mobile phone. Aside from the usual offering of P10 per 30-minute use of mobile Internet, subscribers have the option to go unlimited or “unli” via various mobile data plans such as Unlisurf 50 for unlimited surfing for one day for P50; Unlisurf 300 for unlimited access for seven days for P300; and Unlisurf 1200 for unlimited surfing for 30 days for P1,200. They are shown how to register via text UNLI <rate> and send to 211, or via http://m.smart.com.ph/surf to select an Unlisurf package.

Blackberry users may also avail of the same Unlisurf packages by texting and sending to 2207 the following: BB DAY for unlimited Internet for one day for P50; BB WEEK for unlimited Internet for seven days for P300; and BB month for unlimited Internet for 30 days for P1,200.

Web Unli Plans for unlimited surfing in specific sites like Facebook, Twitter, Friendster and Multiply for P20 per day per site. Users may avail of the plans by going to http://m.smart.com.ph on their mobile phones.
