Sacha takes pole in Asian karting

The Philippine Star

CARMONA, Cavite, Philippines – Filling in the void left by top Filipino karters VJ Suba and the Rivera brothers Milo and Estefano, the Philippines dominated the qualifying heats behind lady karter Sacha Feliciano who claimed the No. 1 spot on the grid for today’s pre-final heat of the 2013 Asian Karting Open Championships at the Carmona Racetrack.

After a fourth place finish in the first qualifying heat, Feliciano bounced back, so determined to rule the last two qualifying heats to capture the pole position in the premier Formula 125 Open Seniors class.

The Philippines actually copped the top three spots on the grid with Formula-E Racing karters Bobby Domingo and CJ Tsui in second and third while Singapore’s Mohammad Nasri Naufal Bin Nasir of Kart Master Drakar Racing Team will start fourth.

Following them are Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier, Singapore’s Yeo Hong Yang of Kart Master Drakar Racing Team and Joao de Jesus Afonso of CKS Racing Team Macau.

But Singapore hopes to dominate the Formula 125 Open Juniors class as Jon Lee Xuan of Kart Master Drakar Racing Team clinched the pole position over two top Filipino junior karters -- Seaoil-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera and Raymond Cudala of Tough Gear Racing – who are hoping to change the scenario in today’s pre-final heat.

Another Singaporean, Gabriella Teo Yu Ting, will be fourth on the grid, followed by Wayne Darvin of Total Racing, AT Tuason of TRS Karting Kids, Jaz Monzones of Formula-E Racing and Brian Thorp of AUTS Racing.
