Elite assume solo second, keep Icons winless
MANILA, Philippines -- Blackwater Sports seized solo second after routing Informatics, 89-73, on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
Pari Llagas churned out a double-double game with 18 points and 11 rebounds aside from swatting three shots in leading the Elite to their fourth win in five games to zero in on unbeaten leader Fruitas (3-0).
Not even Jeric Teng's career-high 32 points could save the Icons from tumbling to their fourth straight loss in as many games as Blackwater set the tone for the rout with an 18-9 run to close the first quarter.
Big man Justin Chua backstopped Llagas with 15 points while Louie Vigil came off the bench to add 11 markers for the Elite, who still got the win despite getting only two points from one of their top guns Kevin Ferrer.
