11,083 traffic violators caught in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government recorded 11,083 traffic violations since the no-contact apprehension scheme was implemented on July 1.

Based on data released by the city government over the weekend, most of the traffic violations involved disobedience to traffic signs (first offense) totaling 9,583 cases, followed by second time offenders with 955 cases.

City hall said 381 motorists were found to be third time violators of traffic control signs.

The local government logged 83 cases of obstruction of pedestrian lane for first offense. A motorist was found to have committed the same violation for the second time.

City hall also recorded 67 cases and two cases of first offense and second offense counter-flow driving, respectively.

Ten motorists have been accosted for driving over a yellow box while a motorist has been found guilty of reckless driving.

“We remind motorists to follow the traffic rules whether there are CCTV cameras or none,” the city government said.
