4 wounded in Basilan clan war

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Four persons were seriously wounded in a gunfight in Lantawan, Basilan on Tuesday.

Baser Hasim Sagdi, Michael Majindi Amiril, Jalal Damsalin and Amiril Mawali, all followers of Maindi Jul-amri, were confined in a hospital.

Initial reports showed the victims were fishing near Caluitan island in Barangay Luuk-Maluha when they were attacked by the group of Ibrahim Alam.

It was not immediately known if Alam’s followers suffered casualties.

 Police said Jul-amri and Alam, both residents of Barangay Lawi Lawi, have long been engaged in rido or clan war.– Roel Pareño
