Jollibee celebrates ‘MaAGAng Pasko’

- From the Philippine Star’s YS -
"Christmas is really more meaningful when it’s shared with other people," said TV and movie actor Aga Muhlach during "Happy Jolliday," Jollibee’s early Christmas treat for Jollibee customers, especially kids. "Happy Jolliday" was a whole day of exciting activities that coincided with the launch of the toy and book collection drive of the "MaAGA ang Pasko sa Jollibee" at the Glorietta.

"MaAGA ang Pasko sa Jollibee" is a toy and book collection campaign spearheaded by Aga Muhlach and Jollibee. The drive is already on its eighth year of making underprivileged kids happy during Christmas. Every year, the number of toys and books gets bigger as more and more people are encouraged by Aga and Jollibee to share new and old toys and books. Last year, more than 70,000 toys and books were collected in Metro Manila and Luzon alone. These donations were given to various orphanages and institutions in different provinces. This year, they expect to have a bigger turnout compared to previous years.

"Happy Jolliday," which was held at the Glorietta Activity Center, gave kids the chance to visit inflatable play areas, game booths, face painting and photo sessions with their favorite mascot — Jollibee. Kiddie shows, Christmas crafts sessions, puppet shows and Christmas storytelling were held.

The program, hosted by Suzy Entrata-Abrera, consisted of performances from the Jollibee mascots, the internationally-acclaimed Mandaluyong Children’s Choir and several fun party games. Spearheading the activity were Inez S. Reyes, Jollibee VP for marketing; Pinky Laurena, Jollibee marketing manager; Kay L. Segismundo, Jollibee events officer; DSWD Sec. Dinky Soliman and Aga Muhlach. The children of Aga’s showbiz and non-showbiz friends also graced the event.

"The donation can either be old toys and books," said Aga. "If it’s new, then better. These gifts are for kids who never had their own toys and books. It must come from the bottom of your hearts. Kasi, dun naggagaling ‘yung true act of sharing and giving."

With everybody’s help, this could be the most successful "MaAGA ang Pasko sa Jollibee" donation drive ever. You can still donate toys and books at any of Jollibee’s over 420 stores nationwide until Dec. 15, 2002.
