Cathay Pacific launches ‘The Bridge’ at HKIA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Following nine months of construction, Cathay Pacific Airways finally opened The Bridge, the airline’s sixth passenger lounge at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

The new 2,567-square-meter lounge, conveniently located on Level 5 of the West Concourse at HKIA near Gate 35, offers passengers an inviting environment of understated luxury.

Cathay Pacific commissioned world-renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners to design The Bridge. Developed with a residential design in mind, The Bridge makes passengers feel relaxed and at home, and is the ideal space in which to unwind before a flight.

“We are committed to offering our passengers the best lounges in the world,” said Cathay Pacific chief operating officer Ivan Chu.

“And the launch of The Bridge raises the bar for premium ground products and services even further. Our significant investments in offering the very best to our passengers on the ground and in the air will continue in enhancing their overall experience when flying with Cathay,” he added.

Cathay Pacific has come a long way since it opened its first lounge, The Wing, back in 1998. In 2001, The Pier was introduced, followed by The Arrival in 2008, and The Cabin in 2010.

Together with Dragonair’s G16 lounge, and with the recent addition of The Bridge, the Cathay Pacific Group now operates a total of six lounges at HKIA, spanning an impressive 13,000 square meters.

The Bridge consists of North and South wings, each extending from the central Reception area. The North Wing features The Bakery, which offers freshly baked bread and pizzas, sandwiches, pastries, Asian and Western soups, and fresh salads. Also at the North Wing is the airline’s iconic Long Bar, together with a television lounge and general seating area.

At the South Wing is The Bistro, a self-service area where passengers can enjoy a variety of high-quality Asian and Western hot dishes and cold food selections, including delicious desserts and light salads. The Coffee Loft offers passengers freshly brewed coffee and specialty teas, accompanied by freshly baked muffins, pastries and cookies.

Also at the South Wing are nine Shower Suites, all furnished with natural travertine stone, and complemented by oak slat walls. Each of the suites feature a spacious shower that provides a calm, relaxing, and private sanctuary in which passengers can freshen up before their journey.

The Bridge is open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver or above Marco Polo Club members, and Sapphire or above Oneworld members departing or transiting in Hong Kong. Opening hours are from 5:30 a. m. until the last departure.
