What's your favorite summer getaway?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -

Summer is back! It’s the best time to make plans with family and friends. Just keep in mind that with all the great places to see, you don’t need a big budget for as long as the company is great!

Rolando Laudico, chef

Our fave summer getaway would be, hands down, El Nido in Palawan!

Faith Amigo, owner, Lady M Cake Boutique, New York

I’m back in the US now so when I’m here, my favorite summer getaway place is Miami. The energy there is like no other. The city is a mix of different cultures, offers a variety of the most delicious cuisines, tons of charming boutiques and, of course, has endless places to do a little (or a lot) of salsa! Not only that, Key Largo is just a hop, skip and jump away from Miami if I want some quiet time.

One of my best summer trips was in the South of France in the summer of 2009. Everything about Nice is nice, from the weather to the long stretch of Promenade des Anglais of Cote d’ Azur, the turquoise Mediterranean Sea and the lovely old towns with narrow alleys where you can find cafes and quirky shops. Even if it’s in France, I get the feeling of Italy since it’s very close to Italy. It is a charming mixture of French and Italian atmosphere because of the architecture, food and ambience. Another good thing in Nice is that you can take a 20-minute train ride to Monaco and a 45-minute trip to Cannes. It’s a very relaxing getaway where you can experience the beach and enjoy the beautiful architecture in France at the same time.

My best summer getaway would have to be the States! Rico and I went there last year and it was so fun! We went to Texas, California and Las Vegas! But if it had to be somewhere in the Philippines I would pick Zambales. Beautiful beach and not a lot of people!

Rico Gutierrez, TV director

Michelle and I went to Texas, Vegas, and California for summer last year. Since we both love the sun, we try to visit Boracay or Zambales at least once a year. Still saving up for Bellarocca.

Daphne Osena Paez, TV

personality

My fave summer getaway for now is Toronto. The kids get to run around freely and enjoy fresh air and lots of green spaces. But if we stay in the Philippines, it’s Tagaytay — not so hot, breezy and the view is spectacular.

Jessica Guevara, VP, E-Group Prop Holdings

My favorite summer getaway is Italy. Aside from the fact that it is the fashion capital of the world, Italy in April can be quite an experience. The weather is cool and spring is already in full swing, or at least in most parts of the country, and the landscapes in many parts is a beautiful riot of colors.

Vicki A. de Leon, features editor, Philippine Tatler

My favorite summer getaway is the beach, especially Boracay. I just love the magic of the island. There are so many relaxing things to do with my family there, such as swimming in the ocean, walking along the coast, shopping and enjoying fresh seafood and Jonah’s fruit shakes. Watching the sunset and having a cocktail there makes you really think that life is good!
