Jugs Jugueta has the itch for mystery
Jugs Jugueta earned his Bachelors Degree in Management at the Ateneo De Manila University. He is part of the pop-rock band Itchyworms. Itchyworms is composed of Jugs on guitars and lead vocals, Chino Singson on guitars, Kelvin Yu on bass, and Jazz Nicolas on drums.
The band recently performed in a sold out acoustic concert over at Skinny Mike’s at The Fort where they dished out their greatest hits as culled from their impressive catalogue of multi-platinum albums, which include Noontime Show, Self-Titled, and their most recent full-length, studio album “After All This Time.†The show was recorded live as it will be featured on the band’s YouTube page and website.
Jugs is also one of the pioneering hosts of ABS-CBN’s top-rating noontime variety show It’s Showtime. He recently proposed to the love of his life and she said yes!
He shares some of his favorite books:
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry – This is probably my favorite book of all time. I love everything about this book, including the pilot, the fox, and the rose. “What is essential is invisible to the naked eye†is probably my favorite line next to John Lennon’s “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.â€
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse – I read this book when I was figuring out my relationship with God, and I was questioning the rules of the Catholic Church, and all that stuff. I think everyone goes through that. This is the perfect book for people going through that phase.
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell – I was blown away when I first read this book. It seeks to explain and describe the mysterious sociological changes that mark everyday life. It’s awesome.
The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz (and the sequel, The Marvelous Land Of Oz) by L. Frank Baum – I used to read these two books every summer. Loved them every time.
The Beatles Anthology (by The Beatles) – I collect books about The Beatles, but this is one of my favorites. This is probably the most comprehensive Beatle book to date.
The Dark Knight Returns written and illustrated by Frank Miller – Before I got into music and into TV, I was part of a group of local comic book creators called Alamat. I used to collect a lot of comics, and this is one of my favorites. It is a graphic novel about Batman in the future, 55 years old, coming out of retirement to fight crime again. Oh, andhe kicks Superman’s ass! ‘Nuff said!
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki – This is where I learned that your car and house aren’t assets, but liabilities. Interesting right? Read it.
A Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton – A very cute book about two dinosaurs. My fiancé gave this to me before I proposed to her. I cried buckets.
The Reading Club recommends A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. Entertaining.
Available in all National Book Stores and Powerbooks.
