Yorkshire Terrier Princess says: Anne Curtis isn’t always on a juice diet

ALL BARK AND A LITTLE BITE - Stephanie Zubiri, Kaloo - The Philippine Star

Young, stunning and at the top of her game, Anne Curtis has to be the ultimate star. Her beautiful face graces numerous billboards and can manage to go from girl-next-door sweet to sexy siren effortlessly. She’s smart and hardworking, keeping up with her daily hosting gig for Showtime, as well as touring the world for her concerts.

Despite her fame and the recent buzz in the press, Anne is always refreshingly honest about her shortcomings — from poking fun at her singing skills to being upfront and apologetic about her slip-ups. Those who know her personally will also vouch for her being well grounded, kind and, in fact, rather demure.

While beauty in itself is not uncommon in showbiz, it is this unique combination of good character, talent, perseverance and fearlessness in baring some vulnerability that has definitely made her a true icon of the industry.

Growing up without pets made her even more determined to have one as a child. She knew that the moment she was independent and could have her own place she would definitely get a pet of her own. She loves all animals but her penchant for dogs is strong and personal.

“I chose to have a dog as a pet because when you choose to own a dog it’s like bringing another member into your family and you have found a friend that will love you for the rest of your life,” Anne says.

“I have to admit getting Princess, who is a Yorkie — Audrey Hepburn had a lot to do with it. I’m a big fan of hers and when I saw she had one, whose name was Famous, I went on a mission to find one, too. And at last, I did. She was the most perfect little puppy I had ever seen. Instantly I thought ‘She is going to be my little Princess,’ and that’s how her name came about. Princess, my Yorkshire Terrier is eight years old.”

PHILIPPINE STAR: Describe yourself in three words.

PRINCESS: Sweet, lazy and affectionate.

Describe your relationship with your human.

We love and adore each other so much. My Mommy Anne taught me what it means to care about so much. When we see each other, for Mommy, it’s like getting butterflies in her tummy. For me, my little tail wags uncontrollably. Oh, and Mommy always spoils me.

What do you guys like to do together? How do you spend time with each other?

Mommy and I love to relax together. I’m at an age now where I don’t like to be too active. So when Mommy is home we lie next to each other and watch some Audrey Hepburn movies.

Is anyone closer than the other to your human?

My sister Bella. She’s a Teacup Chihuahua. She follows me all over the place.

Name one time you got into major trouble and how you got out of it. Who gets into trouble more?

I’ve always been a well-behaved little girl. Even when I was younger, I was a good little princess. I picked up on everything quickly and did everything gracefully!

What’s a typical day like for you?

I wake up, go outside to do my private business then come back inside and wander around the house. My favorite spot is underneath my mom’s bookshelf. Forgive me; I’m quite a lazy dog.

What are your fave hobbies?

Cuddling! Oh, anytime someone comes into the house, I love just laying there, and anytime someone is a foot away, onto my back I go and my favorite tummy rub happens. I love tummy rubs.

Mommy is so crazy-busy! Do you get to go to work with her?

Yes! In fact, Mommy and I just finished a Christmas billboard campaign for Plains & Prints! I was so thrilled when I saw my face on EDSA for the first time!

Tell me the truth, have you chomped on one of her designer shoes or nice couture dresses?

I would never! I love all of Mommy’s things. They’re very pretty. We like to dress up together and when there is a special occasion I love to put a pretty ribbon in my hair, too.

Your favorite food? And if you could have anything in the world, even the “forbidden stuff,” what would be your ultimate meal?

I love my chicken and beef meat. Hmm, I think if I could have some forbidden stuff I’d have some caramel popcorn. Mommy caught me sniffing away when one of her gifts arrived.

Describe your dream vacation and where it would be.

Definitely somewhere that has lots of trees, greenery, mountains, and going for strolls along a riverside somewhere. I’d love to see what it’s like during the season of autumn.

What would be your ultimate happy moment?

My ultimate happy moment is when my family is complete and together: me, Mommy, Bella, Aunt Jasmine, Uncle Tom, Grandma, Tita Maryann and Tita Marge. We also have an additional baby brother named Pancho. (He’s so kulit.) When we are all under one roof, I can’t explain the happiness I feel. It’s my bliss, I can’t express it in words, so my tail really says it all.

Also please share five secret things about your human that only you would know!

1. Mom loves midnight snacks.

2.  She loves to stay in her pajamas all day long if she doesn’t have work.

3. After working out we like to lie down beside each other on the floor for at least 10 minutes doing absolutely nothing.

4. Mom sings along and very loudly every time we watch My Fair Lady.

5.  Oh, and she loves to sing in the shower, too! She told me she sounds better there!
