Born to be glam-punk

-

MANILA, Philippines - Last year, BUM offered clothes that highlighted the emo-punk movement. This time, the brand has created a new collection that plays up the glam-punk trend.

According to Benny Reyes, senior merchandiser and designer for BUM Equipment, this move was driven by the increasing demand of a more mature market. Reyes says, “Our teenage emo-punk followers have now grown up, but they still want to patronize BUM. That’s why we are broadening the design concept of the brand.”

Although BUM Equipment is entering a new phase, its trademark rebel look will still be there: splashy colors, tribal elements, and wild prints.

For its upcoming collections, BUM will bring in new elements like outlined and geometric shapes, paisleys, plaids, and stripes. It will also bring in biker jackets, stunning blouses, vests, tapered pants, cardigans, oversize shirts, Daisy Duke shorts, and studded pieces.

According to Shiena G. San Antonio, junior merchandiser and designer, BUM is embracing the trends from other parts of the world and incorporating them into its collections. San Antonio explains, “We’re creating pieces that might be a little different in the eyes of our loyal followers.”

Part of BUM’s evolution is also the introduction of new silhouettes, cuts, and fabrics. Loyal BUM followers can expect pieces made of knits, twills, wovens, rayons, leathers, and other fabrics that are not normally utilized by other local brands.

BUM is available in leading department stores nationwide. For information, visit www.bum equipment.com.ph or www.facebook.com/bumequip.
