Trend Alert: Hot hair news

GO-SEE - GO-SEE By Joyce Oreña -
Get a quick fix this summer. Run to your hair stylist or get the season’s hottest hair accessories. It’s a great time to change or update your hairstyle and color. At Toni & Guy, Essensuals and Label M, Gary France, creative director for Europe, predicts the hair trends for the season.
Big hair
Inspired from a photograph of an Italian marquesa in the ’60s, L’Oreal Paris Vive spokesperson Orlando Pita created a mod version for Oscar dela Renta. The look is loose and fluffy. The big dramatic ’dos were also seen at Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Moschino.
Bob is still hot
The bob continues to be hot this season — and there’s a bob out there for everyone. Choose long to mid-length for a more manageable look. Think soft layers framing the face, tailed at the neck and slightly longer towards the front. The severe short bob with a fringe is great for oval faces. But beware: it does add roundness to an already round face.
Curly locks
The retro ’30s ringlet bangs were seen at Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Paul Gaultier. The side-swept curls complement the season’s feminine and elegant vibe.
Crimped
Crimped hair made a comeback at Alberta Ferretti, Vera Wang and Michael Kors shows. Wear it down, loosely knotted or done up. Try crimping only your roots then make a tight ballerina bun for a fresh take.
For the brave and the bold
The short cut with lots of layering is daring. Think Mia Farrow’s pixie cut. For those who want a current look and a quick fix, this works best. All you need is a little product to style and you are ready to go. This is good for small face shapes but can be adapted to the rounder or square face.
2007 purdy cut
Seen all over the runways, this is a mod version of the retro cut. This strong, heavy outline is very current but not an easy style to pull off. It works best on fresh and youthful faces. Opt for this if you want to highlight your jaw line.
Soft and romantic
Femininity and elegance are still key trends. Long and wavy styles were seen at Ralph Lauren, Iceberg and Aquascutum. Relaxed hair ruled the runways of Chloé, Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Alessandro Dell’Aqua, Fendi and Jean Paul Gaultier. Keep hair bouncy to achieve the look. Movement is key. It is about sexiness and lightness.
Mod updos
Choose from sleek to soft ponytails, braids let loose or tied up and tidy or undone buns. Refer to Balenciaga, Lanvin and Calvin Klein for the clean sleek look. Versions of braids, on the other hand, ruled the catwalks of Roberto Cavalli, Emanuel Ungaro and Zac Posen, while relaxed updos were seen at Bottega Veneta and Burberry Prorsum.
Long and shiny
If you must keep your length, grow out your layers and keep your fringe as long as you dare. Emphasize health and full gloss. Layering is minimal. The overall look is heavier with blunt ends and a strong fringe. To get the of-the moment look, the fringe must be full and thick, not thin or wispy.

Meanwhile, across the season’s catwalks, designers and hairstylists sent strong messages. Show off your best in the latest hair trends.
Hot accessories
Hair couldn’t get enough accents. Headbands headed the pack. Get versions of the models’ ‘dos worn at Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Prada, Loius Vuitton and Hermès. "Hair should either be messy or neat — nothing in between," says Orlando Pita. Headscarves took the lead, as well. Remember that the look exposes your face, so keep skin flawless and your brows impeccably groomed. Check out Moschino, Prada, Emilio Pucci, Dries Van Noten, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Burberry Prorsum and Yves Saint Laurent for this cool look. This is a great and stylish way to keep your hair protected from the sun. Or opt for one of the wide range of hats this season. Have fun highlighting your hair this summer!

Celebrate beautifully groomed and healthy hair. Summer is about glossy and polished tresses. Take extra care this season. The best advice I can give is to invest in a good haircut. This will make or break your look. Go to a reputable stylist. A knowledgeable stylist knows what will suit you best. So, what are you waiting for? Get a quick fix to update your summer look.
