Momoland's Nancy fangirls over Charlie Dizon for Best Actress win
MANILA, Philippines — K-pop idol Nancy Jewel McDonie of girl group Momoland applauded the award-winning performance of her friend Charlie Dizon in “Fan Girl.”
"I am so proud and impressed with your performance. You are amazing, Charlie. You deserve Best Actress. Congratulations," Nancy posted in an Instagram story where she tagged the actress.
Charlie has since reposted the story on her own account, adding to the long list of greetings that came her way after being awarded “Best Actress” in the ongoing Metro Manila Film Festival 2020.
Nancy regards Charlie as her best friend in the Philippines, having trained together as K-pop idols in their early teens. They became close as the only members of their batch who could speak English.
Charlie ultimately was unable to debut as a K-pop idol due to work contract issues.
"Ang nangyari po nu'ng una puro three months, three months ako pumupunta, puro tourist visa tapos ine-extend na lang... Pero 'yun, 'di na rin po natuloy. Nag-decide na lang po ako na mag-aral na lang po," Charlie previously told Philstar.com in an exclusive interview.
Regardless, she ensures that she can meet with Nancy whenever she's in the Philippines.
