GMA News has always been at the forefront of news and information for the Filipino public in recent years. But this year, the organization marks a renewed chapter — one that reinforces, rather than reinvents, its core mission.

With its defining statement, “Walang kinikilingan. Walang pinoprotektahan. Noon at ngayon, Serbisyong Totoo,” the organization signals a deeper reaffirmation of its commitment to deliver truthful, balanced and credible journalism to Filipinos everywhere.

For the award-winning anchors of GMA Network’s flagship newscast “24 Oras,” the renewed era of GMA News is less about change and more about clarity. It’s a return to first principles — a declaration that amid noise, speed and evolving platforms, the newsroom remains anchored in truth, integrity and public service.

Setting the tone for the renewed direction, Mel Tiangco underscores a message of continuity and conviction: “We have never stopped being ‘Serbisyong Totoo,’ and will always be!”

Echoing the renewed clarity of purpose, Vicky Morales highlights the importance of returning to a defining principle of journalism: “Reviving ‘Walang kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan’ feels so right. It’s our way of saying that in a world full of confusion, you can still count on us to give it to you straight. This was something GMA News had been doing before and will keep doing now, more than ever.”

Reinforcing that enduring bond with the Filipino public, Emil Sumangil points to the role GMA News has long played in people’s lives: “Mula noon, sandigan na ng sambayanang Pilipino ang GMA News, hatid ang serbisyong totoo alinsunod sa kalooban ng Diyos para sa tao.”

As the media landscape continues to evolve — covering traditional broadcasts to online storytelling —journalists face a constant balancing act: keeping pace with change while staying grounded in truth. For GMA News anchors, the answer lies in adaptation without compromise, innovation guided by long-standing journalistic values.

When asked about how the organization upholds integrity in public service while adapting to a fast-paced news environment, the Kapuso anchors shared their perspectives.

Arnold Clavio.

Howie Severino.

Howie Severino: “Speed has always been a necessity, but accuracy remains non-negotiable. The key is building systems where verification is built into the workflow, even for breaking news; journalists are trained to distinguish between initial reports and confirmed information; and corrections are made quickly and transparently.”

Connie Sison.

Connie Sison: “While platforms and technologies evolve, our core values remain constant. We adapt by innovating how we deliver the news — digital, mobile, real-time — but we never compromise how we gather and verify it.”

Pia Arcangel.

Pia Arcangel: “Upholding integrity in the changing landscape of news means practicing responsibility while constantly updating methods of news gathering and news reporting, without sacrificing accuracy.”

Ivan Mayrina.

Ivan Mayrina: “I believe that while we try to adapt and keep pace, we uphold integrity by remaining true to the non-negotiables: accuracy, fairness, context. It is never a choice between getting it first or getting it right, or baiting for clicks versus playing it fair. Yes, many things have changed, but basic tenets of journalism remain the same, and GMA news continues to stand for those tenets.”

Arom Araullo.

Atom Araullo: “By embracing new platforms and formats, but holding the line on verification, fairness and editorial independence.”

Other GMA news anchors reflected on what it means to carry forward GMA News’ enduring promise in a changing media landscape.

Kim Atienza.

Raffy Tima.

Raffy Tima: “Walang kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan is not just a slogan but a renewed commitment to fearless, impartial journalism and to continuously uphold the public’s trust.”

Mariz Umali.

Mariz Umali: “Hindi lang ito pagbabalik — ito ay pagpapatuloy at pagpapatibay ng isang pangakong hindi kailanman nawala — katotohanan ang aming serbisyong paninindigan.”

Ultimately, the renewed direction of GMA News is not about becoming something new — it is about standing firmer in what it has always been.

Jessica Soho.

Jessica Soho, one of the country’s most trusted broadcast journalists, emphasized: “Serbisyong Totoo is to continue reporting the truth because our people deserve nothing less. We need to keep shining the light on issues that our viewers need and want to know. GMA News and GMA Public Affairs should continue to champion good journalism, especially with all the fake news, spins and propaganda.”
