Cup of Joe sells out concerts again

SOUNDS FAMILIAR - Baby A. Gil - The Philippine Star
Cup of Joe sells out concerts again
From unknown high school kids performing anywhere in 2019, Cup of Joe (COJ) is not only the hottest band in the country today, they have also created history. COJ, made up of Gian Bernardino, Rafa Ridao, Gab Fernandez, CJ Fernandez and Xen Gareza, is the first Filipino act to ever enter the global hit lists. Their song Multo, which is today’s No. 1 seller, remains firmly parked in Spotify’s Global Chart. They will treat fans to an entertaining evening of Multo and other hits in the concert titled ‘Stardust’ on Oct. 10 and 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

And like Stardust indeed, ticket sales just dropped and dropped from heaven to the Araneta box office. At the end of the day last July 31, when the tickets first appeared online, “Stardust” had sold a whopping P70M worth of tickets. And there were still thousands crying for more, although the seats had already become all taken. So, what was left for the boys of COJ to do?

Heed the clamor and add another show. Have another explosive, hugely entertaining evening of Multo and other hits. This will still be held at the Araneta on Oct. 12. It is not known if there will still be tickets available by the time this comes out. But those disappointed Joewahs got their chance, and here is hoping they took advantage of it.

From unknown high school kids performing anywhere in 2019, as they said, “Makatugtog lang,” Cup of Joe is not only the hottest band in the country today, they have also created history.

It has gone down a bit from that incredible number 24 some weeks ago, but it is still there, at No.  96, in between Mi Refe by Beele and Gnarly by KATSEYE, surely the dream come true for every Filipino musician.

It is a fact that the euphoria generated by the “Silakbo” concert last February did not die down.  This is due to the unprecedented success of Multo. There have been other Cup of Joe hits before, but Multo turned out to be better than Tingin, Estranghero, Mananatili, Ikaw Pa Rin ang Iibigin Ko, Bukod Tangi and others by the group.

Composed by co-lead vocalist Rafa Ridao, the song brought the “multos” of everybody to fore.  It is a fact that everybody owns a “multo” or two or more and COJ’s Multo helped people find a way to confront these monsters. You can win them over and even use the experience to be better at living.

Come “Stardust” this October, it is a sure thing that Multo will be the most raved about number at the Big Dome. But that will not be all, the songs from the album “Silakbo” will surely be at the forefront and it would be nice to find out that there will be among them a worthy successor to Multo. For one, there is Pahina. The title means “page” and life is made up of pages, turned one by one as one goes through life.

Listen and then ask yourself. What are the things that I should put in the pages of my life? What will those who will read your pahinas in the future think of the life you led? Let Cup of Joe help you find the answer.

Now why on earth are these boys forcing people to contemplate their lives? Aren’t they supposed to just have a good time growing up? Instead, they have us thinking of multos and pahinas and other surprising life items. Strange kids, these Cup of Joe and they sell a lot of songs being so.
