Zaijian Jaranilla, Jane Oineza star in May-December digital series

MANILA, Philippines — Former child stars Zaijian Jaranilla and Jane Oineza will play in their most challenging roles yet as they depict the ups and downs of a fateful age gap romance.

Zaijian and Jane will star in the digital series "Si Sol at si Luna."

In the series, Sol is a film student working on his thesis whose life changes when he meets the heartbroken Luna. As their paths converge, they must navigate their conflicting feelings about attraction, love, and loss that are amplified by their age difference.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the  visuals coming straight from the eye of director Dolly Dulu. Best known for her feature film "The Boy Foretold by the Stars" as well as her TV directorial work, "Si Sol at si Luna" is Direk Dolly’s vision come to life.

Dulu initially pitched the story as an entry to the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival. Despite making it to the shortlist of 16 best entries, the project did not end up in the final lineup for the festival. Still, the story showed so much promise and depth that it was greenlit and expanded into a weekly digital series.

“I’m deeply grateful for the chance to bring ‘Si Sol at si Luna’ to screens,” said Dulu. “Ang saya-saya ko lang, especially since viewers have free access to YouTube, giving the material a wider and more expansive reach. Siyempre happy ako na ito ang first series ng Puregold na medyo magdi-dig deeper 'yung tema at 'yung feels ng narrative.”

Creators see the project as a "boundary-pushing series" with glimpses of the first intimate scene for lead actor Zaijian.

"Si Sol at si Luna" is set to premiere on the Puregold Channel on YouTube on May 31, Saturday, at 7 p.m. Subsequent episodes will drop weekly every Saturday at the same time.
