Nostalgic look at Amelia Amante

REMEMBER WHEN? - The Philippine Star

In high society, she was known as Amelia de la Rama, wife of Indonesian strongman President Sukarno. But in Filipino movies, she was billed Amelia Amante in the late ’40s, ’50s and early ’60s.

Remember When? takes a nostalgic look at the actress, ever elegant and fashionable.

Amelia starred with Carlos Padilla in the Premiere movie Pangarap Ko’y Ikaw Rin (1947).

A 1956 magazine spread showed Amelia, best dressed in formals and casuals that remain fashionable to these very days.

In 1961, she appeared with George Montgomery in the Hollywood film Steel Claw, shot in the Philippines.

In later years, Amelia left Indonesia and married an American colonel and lived in the Philippines, spending her last years in Forbes Park (Makati) and Baguio. —RKC
