MANILA, Philippines - GMA News and Public Affairs recently dominated the seventh annual COMGUILD Awards after taking home the bulk of the event’s major citations on top of its second Hall of Fame Award.

Jiggy Manicad joins the exclusive company of first-ever COMGUILD Hall of Famer Mel Tiangco (Most Outstanding Female News Presenter) after winning the Best Male Field Reporter award for three years (2008, 2009 and 2011).

Manicad is host to several programs including 24 Oras Weekend, Reporter’s Notebook, and GMA News TV’s Quick Response Team.

“Receiving the Hall of Fame award is a humbling experience for me,” said Manicad. “Nakakataba ng puso na maraming kabataan na nakakakita sa trabaho namin bilang mga mamamahayag. At ang maganda doon, nakapagsilbi ka rin sa publiko. Para sa akin, isa rin siyang malaking biyaya.”

Meanwhile, 24 Oras was cited as Best News Program for the second year in a row.

GMA VP for News Programs Jessica Soho was given the Most Outstanding Female News Presenter award for her GMA News TV show, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho.

Kara David was cited as Best Female Field Reporter of the Year. She is one of the anchors of GMA News TV’s early weekday newscast News To Go and I-Witness.

Tiangco, in turn, was named as this year’s Best Entertainment Host for her GMA News TV lifestyle program, Powerhouse.
