Marissa’s ‘Songs in the Key of C-omedy’

Marissa Sanchez performs in special shows at the Calesa Music Bar and Lounge on May 6 and 13, Mondays, from 9 p.m. onwards.

Calesa at Hyatt Regency Manila was the place that started it all for Marissa. As a beginner, she captured the audience with her fabulous voice and rapport with them. But it was her comedic talent that gave her a unique identity, and established her reputation as a total performer.

Marissa seems the atypical lounge singer with her buxomy frame and irreverent humor. But she has turned these into assets, completing the package with an excellent singing voice that can belt out difficult numbers with ease.

Her career has also spanned the world of movies and TV. At one point, she kept a hectic schedule juggling simultaneous stints on Magandang Tanghali Bayan, ASAP, and the former sitcom Puwedeng-Puwede, squeezing in a movie with Diether Ocampo and Joyce Jimenez.

Marissa has moved on to conquer the world following her success at home. Thanks to a promotional spot on The Filipino Channel which made her a "household face" to Filipinos throughout the world by cable television, she has received numerous invitations to perform in Guam, Japan, Los Angeles, Dubai, Sweden, and Norway, as well as Saipan and Bali.

But Marissa will always have a soft spot for Calesa, and in spite of an already arduous schedule, answers the clamor of her loyal followers for a highly-anticipated return engagement in the venue that launched her career.

Songs in the Key of C-omedy is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Makati Buendia. It kicks off a fund-raising concert topbilled by the Side A band, who will perform with Marissa on June 14, Friday, at the newest events venue in the Manila Bay Area, Le Pavillon. Proceeds will benefit the Club’s adopted community, the Sitio Sto. Niño in Cupang, Muntinlupa.
