VIERA Link brings convenience to next-level viewing experience

-

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a lazy weekend afternoon and the family has got nothing to do. What do you do? Gather the troops in the living room, pop that pop corn on the microwave, sit down, relax and enjoy your favorite movie with the family with your new LCD TV that brings your viewing experience to the next level.

But then problems arise: TV isn’t bright enough so where’s the remote for the TV? Want to replay a scene: where’s the remote for the Blu-Ray player? Sound isn’t crisp enough: where’s the remote for the home theater system?

Most of the time, you’d mistake one for the other because sometimes, they all look alike. But with the VIERA Link feature of Panasonic LCD TVs, keep regular remotes aside and avoid traditional cable quagmires in the audio-visual room as VIERA Link simultaneously controls LCD and plasma TV, Blu-Ray player and home theater system through one Hi-Definition remote control.

VIERA Link is the technology developed by Panasonic based on the standard known as High Definition Media Interface-Consumer Electronic Control (HDMI-CEC). This innovation sends the commands or transmits control signals to the TV’s Infrared (IR) sensor over the HDMI cable to attached AV components. HDMI combines uncompressed HD videos and multi-channel audios in a single digital cable.

Every VIERA Link-compatible device attached to a TV and accessed via special remote will have its automatic load settings such as menu and aspect ratio, thus time is not wasted on multiple set-ups because one graphic on-screen menu completes and satisfies the entertainment experience.

To be able to fully enjoy the VIERA Link benefits, enable first the function to control all the attached components in a single remote. When VIERA Link controls appear on the screen, use the navigation buttons to select a desired device whether a Blu-Ray player or home theater system. Because of this powerful electronic interconnection, the TV will automatically recognize what is plugged in it.

Some were misled by thinking that the VIERA Link HD remote control is just another universal remote, but don’t be. Panasonic engineers believe the latter only combines a bunch of incompatible controllers into one case.

The use of universal remote controls when watching film on a Blue-ray disc requires pushing as many buttons as using three separate remotes. However, with the VIERA Link feature, pressing only one button will do the same for TV, Blu-ray player and home cinema system and change to an appropriate HDMI input.

The quantity of devices to which VIERA Link can control, however, depends on the available number of TV HDMI terminals or inputs.

With this revolution, the marathon viewing pleasures for either musical, comedy-drama series or sci-fi episodes gains more appeal. The volume of roaring sounds fueled by scene intensity or heartwarming songs may be adjusted via the VIERA HD remote control - no more traditional controllers of home theater systems.

Even busy professionals will no longer miss the ambience of moviehouses as wide screen comes closer at the comfort of their couch plus total control in their hands.

Now there are more reasons to hang in the entertainment zones for there are more appliances that can synchronize with VIERA Link like DVD recorder, DVD Player, digital camcorder and compact digital camera.

So go ahead and share the best features of VIERA Link to friends and families. In a post-celebration of a special occasion, for instance, invite them over to view the recent event’s still photos or moving images on a big and crystal-clear LCD screen.

You can also turn on the digital SLR camera connected to the TV and press playback button to show playback. Move to an image or motion picture by pressing the user-friendly steering buttons and relive touching and happy moments while everybody is comfortably seated.

While this technology indeed saves physical energy that probably some acknowledged couch potatoes will enjoy, it also saves more in energy household consumption.

When the VIERA HDTV is turned off, the components connected that supports VIERA Link will also be put to sleep.

So how’s that for energy conservation? You enjoy your TV watching immensely and you get to help the environment by reducing energy wastage. It’s definitely a win-win situation.
