PPP project pipeline at P2.64 trillion as of April

MANILA, Philippines — The government has added 14 projects to its public-private partnership pipeline, bringing the total to 187 PPP projects amounting to P2.64 trillion.
Data from the PPP Center showed that as of April 11, both the number of projects and total cost in the pipeline increased from the previous month’s list of 176 projects worth P2.60 trillion.
The 14 additions to the pipeline cover three national projects and 11 local projects.
The PPP Center said the additional projects cover unsolicited proposals endorsed to implementing agencies, as well as projects submitted by implementing agencies.
Of the projects added to the PPP pipeline, the biggest is the unsolicited proposal of Iloilo Global City Corp. for the P18.27-billion Iloilo Global City project, which will involve the development of new growth centers in the city.
Also added to the PPP list was the unsolicited proposal of Cerberus Asia Pacific Investments LLC for the P5.31-billion Subic International Airport project.
Other projects now part of the PPP pipeline are the P4.3-billion Philippine Coast Guard Maritime Modernization Program, P3.97-billion Last Mile Schools Green Energy and Connectivity project, P3-billion Solar Power Garden project, P1.75-billion Expansion of El Nido Port Integrated Terminal Exchange, P1.75 billion Expansion of Buliluyan Port Integrated Terminal Exchange, P580-million Sandoval Airport Development project and the P17-million Tagbilaran City Dialysis Center.
The updated PPP pipeline also includes projects of the provincial government of Palawan such as the Establishment of Sewage and Solid Waste Treatment Facility, Establishment of Multi-Specialization Hospital, Calauit Safari Park Improvement project, Development of Dumaran Mangrove Forest River Cruise, and Development of Farm Tourism Sites: Provincial Tourism and Agricultural Development Center.
Meanwhile, the Upgrade, Expansion, Operations and Maintenance of the Kalibo International Airport project amounting to P3.62 billion was delisted from the PPP pipeline due to failure of negotiations.
The PPP Center also said the P2.1 billion Bacolod Super City project and the P2.54 billion USWAG Condominium Complex project were removed from the pipeline as these have been awarded and are now part of the list of projects under implementation.
A total of P3.37 trillion worth of PPP projects are currently under implementation.
The government is actively pushing for PPPs to address the country’s infrastructure gaps and achieve economic growth.
