Spectrum energizes Bulacan solar rooftop

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) subsidiary Spectrum has energized a new solar rooftop facility in Bulacan, expanding its roster of enterprise customers that are ramping up their sustainability efforts.

Spectrum inaugurated the 98.28-kilowatt-peak (kWp) project at the storage warehousing facility of North Bound Infinity Real Estate Development Inc.

Spectrum said the project is expected to generate approximately 125,600 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy every year, and allow North Bound to save approximately P840,000 in energy costs annually.

North Bound will likewise reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 89 metric tons, which translates to more than 4,100 trees planted and more than 356,300 kilometers reduced in vehicle travel per year, according to Spectrum.

“Through Spectrum’s solar solutions, we are also able to deliver sustainable power supply within and outside the borders of Meralco’s franchise area. For North Bound, this is just the beginning, and we will be with them as they embark on their journey towards being a sustainable business,” Spectrum president and CEO Ferdinand Geluz said.

North Bound provides adequate and accessible storage facility and assists deliveries of goods and services between Metro Manila and nearby provinces in the North Luzon region.

The company joins the roster of international and local companies that engaged Meralco and Spectrum to advance their sustainability goals through utilization of renewable energy.

Through the solar rooftop project, North Bound hopes to achieve operational efficiency while strengthening its environmental stewardship.
