Boracay tourism seminar moved

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA), the “Pulse and Voice of the Philippine Retail Industry” and the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that due to Typhoon Ruby, the Boracay leg of “Lakbay-Turo Para sa Micro-Tourism” seminar series scheduled on Dec. 11, 2014 was moved to February next year.  This is a joint project of the PRA and the DOT.

The PRA and DOT Region 6 will be releasing more advisories to make sure interested participants will be updated on this new development.

“As much as we wanted to proceed with the seminar to impart fresh inputs and know-how to the retailers in Boracay in time for the holiday season and the APEC meetings, the typhoon and its effects have forced us to move it to a later date. However, we also see this as an opportunity to invite more participants,” PRA president Lorenzo “Enchong” C. Formoso said.

Formoso, COO of Duty Free Philippines, said the workshop is part of the preparations for the Philippines’ hosting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in 2015.

“We are supporting the public-private sector efforts to gear up our micro-small retailers for the ASEAN economic integration happening in end-2015. We must help Filipino entrepreneurs to be ready for the integration,” he stressed.

At the same time, Formoso noted the PRA is in full support of efforts to boost the DOT’s ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines and ‘Visit Philippines Year 2015’ campaigns.

Retail HR expert and international trainor Franz dela Cruz Jr. will handle the Boracay edition of the one-day seminar and workshop, which aims to help micro and small entrepreneurs be prepared for the impact of ASEAN Integration.
