Nokia's new head for Indochina-Phl

-

MANILA, Philippines - Nokia recently announced changes in its leadership teams that will take effect starting January 2012. The company has appointed William Hamilton-Whyte as VP of the newly formed operative unit, which includes Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos) and the Philippines.

His appointment is aligned with the company’s plans to streamline its operations and implement necessary reorganizations geared toward empowering its operative units, now called Areas, to efficiently respond to market trends and customer demands.

Through his leadership, Hamilton-Whyte aims to bring more significant gains that will continue Nokia’s market leadership amidst a highly competitive environment and challenging macro-economic conditions.

Prior to his new position as Nokia’s head for Indochina-Philippines, Hamilton-Whyte successfully propelled Nokia Philippines to its market leadership position during his tenure from 2007 to 2009. He then joined Nokia Indochina in September 2009 and was instrumental to the team’s success in volume sales, value and brand recognition within the region. He has a wealth of experience in many markets, including Europe and Asia and is highly recognized for his passion for innovation, sustainable development and people-oriented mindset.

As head of the Indochina-Philippines Area, he will be based in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and will lead Nokia’s business operation within the Area and support the company in its path to success.

With his appointment, Hamilton-Whyte reiterates Nokia’s commitment to continue investing in the Philippines and focus on bringing unparalleled customer experience through its products and services. “We are making solid progress on our strategy and we will continue to be focused on driving innovation and bringing an exceptional mobile experience to our consumers,” shared Hamilton-Whyte.

To date, Nokia continues to change the game in the smartphone business as it gears up to build a winning ecosystem with Microsoft. The first Nokia with Windows Phone device called the Nokia Lumia 800 has been introduced in select markets, following a deluge of new Symbian devices like the Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 and an update on the operating system, the Symbian Belle.

In mobile phones, Nokia continues its drive to connect the next billion people to the Internet, introducing this year great devices and rich services to fulfill this commitment. Among these devices are four Dual SIM handsets – the Nokia 101, Nokia X1-01, Nokia C2-00 and Nokia C2-03.
