How to update your work wear

FASHION PERSONA - FASHION PERSONA By Jenni Epperson -
If you’re planning to buy another black blazer, black pumps or dark brown pants, think twice before doing so.

Updating your wardrobe means buying new pieces (and I dare say, fashionable ones) and mixing them with your existing work clothes. So don’t tell me you need another black blazer, well of course, unless you find one with interesting details like red stitching, colorful or printed lining or this season’s loose, blouson jackets just like the ones with buckles and bows in the Tom Ford for Gucci Spring 2003 collection. Otherwise, give it a rest!

For spring 2003, colorful hues are a must and skirt lengths have to look spiffier! Think of 1950’s style with 2003 flair–knee-length skirts paired with a silk camisole and a well-structured shrunken blazer or an A-line or full skirt paired with a big-cuffed shirt and a tiny cardigan. The best accessories this season for the office are dark-colored peep-toe pumps/sling-backs and colorful leather totes in wine red, green and mustard, colors serious enough for the office yet also show the fun side of you.

It’s time to bring some fresh colors into your office to liven up your officemates’ spirits or even show your boss some few fashion tricks in the office (besides, not only dark colored suits mean business anyway). So be sure re-organize your closet and get your creative juices working. Mixing and matching your clothes should be in your hand-held PC’s To Do List this week to get you all organized for summer’s warm weather and maybe an out-of-town project or your office’s upcoming seminar.

Below are some guides on how to work your office wardrobe this season with chic and witty ensembles from the yuppies and the corporate head honchos’ favorite store, The Black Shop.

Remember ladies, serious does not mean boring nor colors mean wild, a well-structured, pink suit paired with a crisp white tuxedo shirt and a kick-ass leather tote has never looked so empowering on women! "OK, coffee break anyone?"
Pink Suit
This ensemble is an absolute ‘deal-closer.’ It’s for women who are sure about their brains and confident about their positions. I love this ensemble because the cut is classic yet the color is so girly. We may live in a man’s world but we’re surely not going to wear their clothes–well, at least not all the time.
Denim Suit
Denim never looked this good in the office! Choose a blazer-type style instead of a jacket type. By doing so, you get away with soft denim’s comfortable fabric yet still look serious enough for the office dress code.
Orange Combo
Blazers and suits are great for a hip corporate look. In companies with less rigid about office dress codes, this ensemble will make you look great and serious without trying too hard.
White Suit
White is always right! Can’t get yourself to wear pink, orange or aqua to work? Then go for whites! A ribbon used as belt is so chic, it’s bound to be contagious at work.
For the fashionista
This season, designer Marc Jacob made this shoe chic for Louis Vuitton and cool for his own label. This pair is absolutely fabulous if paired with your knee-length skirt or your favorite khaki slim pants.

Once a fashionista, always a fashionista at heart! This will definitely make your day feel special at work and only you would know about the whimsical face print in the blazer’s lining.
