LVPI still Philippine volleyballs governing body, says FIVB

MANILA, Philippines — The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) will remain as the national governing body for volleyball in the country.

The Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) in a letter Thursday retained LVPI's status as the country's sole governing body.

"On (May 5, 2017), the FIVB Board of Administration decided to provisionally adjudicate the dispute between the Larong Volleyball Sa Pilipinas Inc, and the Philippine Volleyball Federation," the letter read.

The LVPI will still be allowed to organize international competitions in the country and form national teams to compete abroad.

FIVB also said they will propose the expulsion of PVF from the FIVB and the granting of full membership to LVPI in the 36th FIVB World Congress next year.

The board's decision is provisional and the PVF can still file an appeal before the FIVB Appeals Panel.

The LVPI has hosted numerous international tournaments in the country for the past two years, including the inaugural Asian U23 championship in 2015, the 2016 Asian Women's Club championship and the 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship.
