Chua, Hernandez bowlers of the year

MANILA, Philippines - Youthful Kenneth Chua and Bea Hernandez bagged the 2013 Bowler of the Year title to lead other awardees in the annual Team Prima athletes awards night recently at the V Corporate Center in Makati.  

Chua, a member of the national team, took last year’s SCTBA Open Masters crown, ATBA Open Masters title and recorded two perfect games to win the men’s Bowler of the Year title during the awards night organized by Team Prima chairman Alexander Lim.

“Last year was a great experience and I hope to win more titles for our country and for Team Prima this 2014,” said Chua, a computer engineering graduate of  La Salle. “I’m thankful to Team Prima.”

Hernandez captured last year’s 42nd Philippine International Open – Associate Masters Champion, which was organized by the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC), and the 2013 TBAM Annuals Ladies Masters title to claim the women’s Bowler of the Year award.

Hernandez also won the most improved bowler (Women’s Division).

National junior player Enzo Hernandez copped the 2013 BALP Open Masters, the TBAM Open Mixed Youth Masters title and the 42nd Philippine International Open Youth Masters crown to take home the boys’ junior bowler-of-the year award.

Christelle Peig bagged the girls’ junior bowler-of-the-year after sweeping the 2013 National Youth Championships’ gold medal in the singles, doubles, team, and all-events.

Gregg Paz and Ghiselle Bautista grabbed the men’s and women’s Badminton Player-of-the-Year citation, while Eboy Farr won the Cyclist-of-the-Year award after winning the national series overall championship.

Other awardees were Aui Padawan (Bowler of the Year – Cebu men’s); Samantha Lagcao (Bowler of the Year – Cebu women’s); Joshua Autida (Most improved bowler of the year, men’s) and Benito ‘Negz’ Negranza (Photographer of the Year).

Willy “Wolo” Lim of Team Prima, meanwhile, said in his speech that all athletes dedicated their awards last year to the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda in the eastern part of Visayas region particularly in Tacloban, Leyte.
