Sta. Lucia Tour final leg begins

-

MANILA, Philippines - The final drive for the overall championship begins today for front running Alta Vista Golf and Country Club of Cebu and the only two clubs still with a chance of winning it as the 10th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour resumes at the Summit Point Golf Club course in Lipa, Batangas.

The Cebuanos flew in yesterday morning hoping to protect a three-point lead over the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club of Davao in today’s competitions at the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Summit Point course.

Alta Vista, which has 85 points following a big comeback in the Visayas leg it hosted last month, is on a special mission as it is out to match the four overall titles won by Eagle Ridge which lies in third place 12 points adrift at 73.

Anything can still happen though as the Luzon leg is a two-part series including tomorrow’s conclusion at Eagle Ridge which is treated as a separate leg like Summit Point.

“It has always been a climactic ending and looking at the scores after the second leg, we expect the same this weekend,” said executive committee co-chair Vicente Santos. His co-chair, Engr. Wini Gob also believes it will be a fight to the finish for the three traditional rivals.

The other clubs in the field are Royale Tagaytay, Orchard of Cavite, Summit Point of Batangas, Lakewood of Cabanatuan, Beverly Place of Pampanga and Lake Caliraya Springs of Laguna.
