Jazmines eyed for PSI top post

-

Tessa Jazmines, a former University of the Philippines vice chancellor, journalism professor and sports columnist, is set to take over the helm at the Philippine Sports Institute.

Newly appointed Philippine Sports Commission chair Harry Angping bared his plan of appointing Jazmines to the top post of the institute conceptualized by former PSC chair Philip Ella Juico and re-launched by Butch Ramirez last year.

“I have invited Tessa Jazmines of UP to help me at the PSI so as we can also have linkages with UP,” said Angping.

Jazmines, current UP director for alumni relations and resource generation and associate journalism professor at the UP College of Mass Communication, said she is considering the offer.

“Let’s see what happens after we have formal discussions about the offer,” Jazmines told The STAR yesterday.

Jazmines is a UP cum laude with a degree on AB journalism in 1968 and a masters degree in communication in 1975. She is a sports columnist at The Business Mirror, head of a media and public relations firm and a former manager of the senior basketball team of UP where she also teaches advertising and public relations. – Joey Villar
