50 young newsmakers of 2001 (Part II)

HEIR APPARENTS

KC CONCEPCION
The only one who may even come close to giving Sharon Cuneta a run for her money is her very own, her teenage daughter KC Concepcion. KC’s everywhere! Billboards, newspaper, magazine covers, stage plays…everywhere. When she became Human’s image model and after her well received performance in The Little Mermaid, the public got its dose of the country’s most intriguing celebrity daughter. Yup, the cute kid has truly grown into one of the country’s loveliest.

KARYLLE
What a powerful voice! Her regular segment in the noontime show S.O.P. displays that quite clearly. It’s surely in the genes. Just in case you didn’t already know, she’s Zsa-Zsa Padilla’s daughter. Her path to fame started when she starred in the stage presentation of The Little Mermaid. And it’s all been good for this young looker.

BORGY MANOTOC
High-profile family. Prestigious school. Amazing body. Cute face. Apparently, this is the perfect mix for an endorser, apparel or other. He dictates a lifestyle that people long for. Not to mention a girlfriend everyone’s pining over. (Remember that drama at the airport when he left to experience the world at large? Sarah Meier’s tears left permanent stains on the carpet.) Is there anything else in life Borgy Manotoc needs? Yeah, a warehouse to stuff his own collection of shoes. He didn’t fall too far from that fetish tree…

BOYISH CHARM...

ED FEIST
He graced our television sets long before MYX was born. (Yes, another commercial model.) This stage actor turned VJ is one of the hotter tickets, winning the quivering loins of millions all over. Low profile guy, though.

PAUL HAMMOND
If his boyish face and thick cockney accent won’t intrigue you from the get-go, then you’ve got a serious frigidity problem. Brit-Pinoy split in the middle. Slender as they come. Friendly and even a little flirtatious. He may be just another young foreign mix out to make something of himself in the town he once left behind, but Paul Hammond seems to have what it takes to go far. Hell, MYX took instant notice. Expect to see much more of him in the coming year.

COGIE DOMINGO
After his well-reviewed Deathrow performance in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, Cogie’s career shot up exponentially. Not only as a teen heartthrob (which he is) but also as a serious actor that had potential with a capital P. And he has that huge Penshoppe poster on Edsa to prove it!

MALE BONDING

THE HUNKS
What a cheesy name, you might say? Well, can’t argue much…they truly are, um, hunks. Sharp looks, defined biceps and abs, and oozing sex appeals. All big-time actors (and singers) individually, the combination solidified the fantasies of every young (and young at heart) girl. It all started in the noon-time show A.S.A.P where all were co-hosts. They were grouped in their production numbers. And to everyone’s expectation, the formula clicked. Today, Piolo, Diether, Jericho, BJ, and Carlos are undeniably some of the most popular names, faces, and bodies to rock the country.
