-

MANILA, Philippines - Erlinda Castro-Sanqui was among the first who saw the benefits of herbal teas like lagundi, sambong, banaba, ampalaya, and pito-pito through her Rita Ritz line. Hannah Mojica’s loofah mats and soap pockets are made from patola and help to prevent skin disease. Dinky Pimentera has developed organic products for better home care.

Tristan San Buenaventura’s Green Mobile Solar Charger uses renewable energy and power that comes from the sun. Helen Villaraza works with her husband on Eco-Homes, while Tahon designs hydro and solar panels. Anthony Leuterio makes water a new fuel source for our engines with his water fuel cell.

They are among the 25 inventors who will be showcasing their interesting and dynamic products in the Filipino Inventors and Young Achivers Exposition starting today until May 17 at the fourth level of the SM City North EDSA Annex.

Many of them have won international and local acclaim, and they will be at the venue to showcase their breakthrough products, some of which may soon serve the world. These include Caroline Chua and Ronce Kino with their Kalamansi Squeeze, Ramona Advincula with her panabo herbal eye drops and tea, and Kristine Rey Group with their Buckett and Berries yogurt ice cream made from carabao’s milk. Laura Lazaro and the Zitrus Corporation have innovative skincare products.

The exhibit also includes cutting-edge products that will make us proud of our Filipino inventors. These include engineer Rizal Obligar with his multi-purpose Joy Charcoal Stove, Antonio Andes with his Mini Fire Truck, and engineer Johnny Simon with his Per’Tua Oil fuel additives to enhance engine performance. Dalmacio Muring’s Acuthera Foot Massager Mat is a stress reliever, while engineer Panfilo Rieta’s Actinic Medical Laser helps to treat health problems.

Other inventors are Sonia de Leon and her deep fryer, Feliza Villonza and her bleaching powder, lotions, and shampoos, Rodolfo Biescas’ flat iron economizer and air purifier, Virgilio Sangutan’s eggshell protector and waste water solution, Christine Lagasca’s Soybetes ice cream, and the Philippine Science High School’s robotics.

In addition to the exhibit, the event will have three special art activities to showcase the talent, creativity, and skills of young Filipinos who may want to join. These include Recycling Magic using recycled materials today, May 15; Paint a Vision, wherein one can express his vision for 2010 on May 16; and a Kids on Art Contest on May 17. All events will take place at the second level of SM City Annex.

The Filipino Inventors and Young Achievers Exposition is one of the many exciting events at SM City North EDSA.
