Food supplement vs. TB

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A lawyer suffering from an unusual case of tuberculosis (TB) has recovered from this killer disease and now lives to tell her story.

Lawyer Trixie Angeles had TB, not in the lungs as most would think, but in her neck where it grew to the size of a golf ball and threatened her life.

Surprisingly, Laminine, a food supplement from the US, helped Angeles survive the surgery and continue her career of protecting the environment and assisting victims of natural disasters.

How the food supplement helped her body heal itself after the surgery and brought her back to work has drawn the interest of people similarly suffering from TB.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), TB is second only to HIV/AIDS as the greatest killer worldwide.

â€œIn 2012, 8.6 million people fell ill with TB and 1.3 million died,” states a WHO online report.

To help enlighten TB patients, especially those with such an unusual case as that of Angeles, a weekly TV program titled Be Alive featured her story recently, with doctors from various fields serving as consultants.

Be Alive is aired at 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. every Sunday on GMA News TV 11 and hosted by movie icon Maggie Dela Riva, singer and songwriter Ana Rivera, and social entrepreneur, health advocate, and chief executive officer Susan Barlin of Forever Rich Philippines Inc. (FRPI).

The program and Barlin’s other community-beneficial activities earned her the first-ever Heart of LifePharm Global Network Award at a prestigious international event in Anaheim, California.
