The Center for Culinary Arts offers courses on food media, culinary theater arts, and more

-

MANILA, Philippines - The culinary industry has never been this hot. As one of the top culinary schools in the Philippines, the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila steps up to the plate by launching “CCA Kitchen, The One-Stop Culinary Center,” another satellite school focused on food’s marriage with the mass media.

Located at the third level of the new Eastwood Mall, Eastwood City, The CCA Kitchen will offer professional continuing education programs for culinary enthusiasts and foodies in the area of food media or culinary theater arts. The school hopes to tap career shifters, culinary and restaurateur enthusiasts, even children and homemakers.

“Culinary arts has spread into many sectors not only in the kitchens of restaurants and hospitality establishments,” said Ma. Veritas Luna, Ph.D., managing director of CCA, Manila. “It has become a global interest in media either in print, television, radio, or visual arts. It is also paving the way for a new performing arts discipline, i.e. culinary theater arts. Enthusiasts in this arena need to hone their skills further. The CCA Kitchen shall be a venue of bringing together experts in these fields.”

The one-stop shop facility will also house a branch of Cravings Restaurant, which offers new and unique menu that boasts food for wellness. There will also be a culinary store that will offer interesting and hard-to-find culinary merchandise fit for the hardcore food enthusiasts, and culinary kits designed for kids to keep them busy and excited while working in the kitchen. There will also be kitchen apparel for the sophisticated homemaker, chef’s jackets, and aprons for kids, rare cookbooks, and CCA merchandise.

Chef instructors from the industry and experts from the field will be tasked to handle course offerings, among them food photography, food styling, food writing, food cyber media, media appearances and culinary demonstrations under the food media section.

There will also be short courses offered on cuisines of the world, entertaining at home, healthy cooking, wine appreciation, food and wine pairing, and baking classes.

A Young Chef’s Academy will target children through such courses as Navigating the Kitchen, Western/Asian Cuisine, Let’s Bake, and Young Upstart.

“The Food Media Section of the Career Development Division is an entirely new concept for CCA, and an answer to the needs of the times. The Young Chef’s Academy, on the other hand, is what the parents have been clamoring for; something that children can do during weekends of the summer season,” Dr. Luna explained.
