Love — and pamper — yourself on Valentine’s Day

STYLE S.O.S. - The Philippine Star

 DEAR RISSA,

My fiancé and I are planning a weekend getaway for Valentine’s. We just want to get away from work and relax. I’m also looking forward to pampering myself. Are there any well-scented body products you can recommend? Even if we’re already engaged, I’d like to still make an effort to look good.                                   BELLE

Valentine’s Day really is an occasion for love. But I think it’s great that you haven’t forgotten to love yourself, too! A woman really feels more beautiful when she takes the extra step to pamper and take care of herself.

Right now, I’m falling in love with Penhaligon’s Vanities Fragrance Collection which features the delicious scents of aloe vera, shea butter, cocoa butter, and sweet almond oil. The set contains one 150mL body lotion and one 300mL shower gel — the perfect partners for sexy and smooth, fragranced skin this Valentine’s! What makes me fall in love with this even more is this beauty set is decadently housed in an ornamented tin box inspired by traditional music boxes and featuring stunning illustrations of singing mechanical birds! Every woman will no doubt feel extra pampered with this beautiful and covetable magical gift.

If you want your man to treat you like a queen, make him feel like a king, too! Give him the royal treatment and gift him with Penhaligon’s Sartorial Fragrance Collection. The brand Penhaligon’s was actually founded by Englishman William Penhaligon who created his first scent in 1872. He was later appointed perfumer to the royal court. 135 years later, the brand Penhaligon’s is proud to hold a royal warrants of appointment from the royal family — a mark of recognition given to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to the royal family.

The Sartorial Fragrance Collection is an elegant fragrance inspired by the scents of the workroom in Norton & Sons, Bespoke Tailors at No. 16 Savile Row. The set features one 50mL EDT, one 100mL shower gel, and one 75mL deodorant stick. The Penhaligon’s sartorial collection is tailored to perfection. Traditional notes of oakmoss, tonka bean, and lavender have been exquisitely stitched together with woods, ozonic and metallic effects, leather, violet leaf, honey and spices to create the perfect illusion of Savile Row. This is the fragrance for a new generation of gentlemen.   RISSA

The lash word in tight lining

HI, REGINA!

I wear mascara, but I don’t think it’s enough to define my eyes. I don’t want to wear liquid liner or anything, though. Is there another technique I can learn to make it look like I have thicker lashes?

TRACY

Yes, there is. It’s called tight lining. It still utilizes eyeliner, but instead of drawing a thick, obvious line right on top of your lash line, the eyeliner is inside and under the lash line, giving your lashes the illusion of density and making your eyes look more defined in a very subtle way.

Use a flat, angled eyeliner brush and use a cake eyeliner (like Laura Mercier’s, but if you don’t have one, then mist your brush with water and use black shadow; this technique won’t work with a liquid liner, and it’s very difficult to do with pencil), gently pressing the pigment into your lash line, between your lashes. Press it right under the lashes, too. If you want a little more definition, also press the liner right on top of the lashes, as close to the lash line as possible, keeping it very thin. Then, curl your lashes and top them off with your usual mascara.    REGINA
