MANILA, Philippines — The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) yesterday pledged a P1-million donation to The Philippine STAR’s humanitarian arm, Operation Damayan, for its ongoing fund drive for typhoon relief.

Non-stop torrential rains caused much damage to lives, property and infrastructure in large parts of Luzon, which bore the brunt of a series of typhoons and monsoon rains.

Aside from the FFCCCII, Angelo King Foundation also pledged a P1-million donation on Monday to The STAR’s Operation Damayan, which conducts the relief operations with the help of employee-volunteers from The Philippine STAR led by its president and CEO, Miguel Belmonte.

With the help of donors, Damayan provided relief to thousands of flood-stricken families in Quezon City last year.

FFCCCII is the umbrella organization of Filipino-Chinese entrepreneurs in the Philippines, with over 170 business and trade associations all over the country.

The Damayan fund drive for typhoon relief now totals P2.2 million.

For those who wish to partner with Operation Damayan for typhoon relief, donations may be sent via bank deposit to Philstar Daily Inc./ Operation Damayan Metrobank Savings Account No. 151-7-15152422-9 (email deposit slip to [email protected]), or via GCash (look for Payment Solution tab and search for Philstar Daily Inc.).

Interested parties may also contact Damayan head Emie Cruz at 0927-3058283.
