Julie Carceller and Emily Campos create beautiful artisan pieces together

Mother daughter tandem of Touch of Craft: Julie Carceller and Emily Campos

After decades of being a top corporate executive, Julie Carceller thought she would finally be taking it easy.  However, turning into an entrepreneur was a tempting offer when she decided to partner with her artistic mother, Emily Campos.

Thirty-one years ago, Emily supported a community of artisans who created one-of-a-kind decorative handicrafts with a collection of seasonal pop-up markets and bazaars.  Not too long after she was busy exporting her products and was an awardee of both the prestigious Katha (1987) and the Golden Shell (1996) for outstanding Philippine product designs.

Touch of Craft carries handmade crafts and accessories, bags, dolls, ornaments and home and garden decor.

Though the demands of the business grew, Touch of Craft stayed true to its roots of creating things carefully, lovingly and one-of-a-kind firmly believing that customers would be impressed with artisanal products rather than mass-produced, cookie-cutter batches.  No two pieces are ever alike and usually cannot be recreated again. Every item is uniquely handmade from fabrics that are sourced locally or abroad in vintage and thrift shops.

The mother-daughter tandem works perfectly with Emily in charge of product design and Julie taking care of marketing and sales for the exclusive handmade products.

With a thriving local market and a number of European clients, the Touch of Craft merchandise carries handmade crafts and accessories, bags, dolls, ornaments, home and garden décor. Two of their best selling items is a tote made up of 36 pieces of vintage neckties that are meticulously selected and stitched to form unusual combinations, yet will remain a fashion classic.   For the home, there are a variety of poufs and stools that can be used not only for practical purposes but will certainly add a touch of color in any part of the one’s residence.

As we passed by their cozy store in the Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Julie enthused,  “Touch of Craft was founded 32 years ago, supporting a community of artisans with designs inspired by our love for art and travel.  The collection centers on unique and superior quality for the home and fashion.  We carefully and lovingly create and design with the objective of allowing our customers to likewise love our products.”
